Birmingham has seen a persistent increase in gun violence in recent years, and it shows no immediate signs of stopping. Recent statistics show that homicides are up approximately 32% more than last year, and 90% of all Birmingham homicides involve guns. Curbing gun violence requires a partnership between law enforcement, elected officials, private organizations, and neighbors.
For this joint luncheon between the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and the Birmingham Rotary Club, we will hear from Prim Escalona, U.S. Attorney; Dr. Mark Wilson, Jefferson County Health Officer; and Danny Carr, Jefferson County District Attorney. Chris Nanni, Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham President and CEO, will moderate the discussion on the public health crisis and potential community-wide solutions.
*Registration not required, but if you would like to bring a guest or attend as a potential new member, please email Laura Klein at recruitment@rotaractbhm.org.
